Horace Ankrah was born in Accra on February 26, 1957 but grew up in Kumasi. He was named Nii Ayi by his parents,the late Mr Chris Wilfred Ankrah, an ex-serviceman with the then Gold Coast army and a retired Accountant, from Otublohum and Prampram and Mrs Vera Rose Ankrah (nee Ben-Smith) a retired midwife from Anomabu, Elmina and Winneba.
Ankrah is the grandson of Lt. Col. Robert Ben-Smith MBE from Elmina and Cape Coast and Mrs Mercy Alberta Ben-Smith (nee Swatson) from Anomabu and Winneba. Mr Joseph Ankrah and Mrs Beatrice Ankrah both from Prampram and Otublohum all of blessed memory.
The Ankrah and Ben-Smith families are popular in the Greater Accra, Central, Ashanti and the Western Regions of Ghana. Ankrah's grandfather, Lt. Col. Robert Ben-Smith family gatherings took place in Kumasi where he played an effective role in the community. Ankrah has emulated this positive influence. He has taken his inspiration from the teachings of Our Lord Jesus Christ, his grandparents, parents, Juliana (wife), Larry and Lauren ( children ) and an excellent, selfless friend Tony Oteng Gyasi.
Education
Ankrah attended both KNUST and UCC primary schools before continuing his education at Adisadel College, Cape Coast in 1970. He excelled both academically and in sports. He was both a top footballer for the school and ran in both 100 and 200 metres for Adisadel College and the Central Region.
In 1977 he gained admission to the Institute of Professional studies, Legon where he pursued a course in Accounting.
In 1987, after a brief working spell at the Accounts Department of the University of Cape Coast and as Inventory and Recreation Officer at the Canadian High Commision in Accra, Ankrah left to further his education in the UK. His education in the UK was self funded by working as an Accounting Officer with Travis Perkins, Balham Branch and 7 years as an Underground Train Operator ( Northern Line ) with London Underground Limited where he had the opportuity of training several Train Drivers himself.
Horace Ankrah holds a B A (Hons) and MSc (International Conflict) both in Politics. He was one of the few students ever to complete a two year Masters programme in a year. In 2004 he won the Jon Lopatequi Memorial Award in Politics from Kingston University.
Ankrah has remained in the main stream academia as Founder of Nzo Academy of London & Surrey and Nzo Institute of Professional Studies where he has been lecturing in Politics and Sociology on Part-time bases.
He is currently working on his PhD in Politics and a Law degree at the University of London.

A successful businessman with 2 International Charities, 2 schools in the UK and 10 other companies including Nzo Car Rental, Nzo Driving School, Nzo Travel & Tours, Nzo Care Farms , Nzo Oil and Nzo Academy of London & Surrey. He is currently working hard to establishing Nzo Airways.
LANGUAGES
Horace is fluent in Ga, Twi, Fante, Ada and English. He is currently taking lessons in Hausa and polishing his Ewe.

Reading (biograhy), Music ( gospel, hi-life and jazz), sports (soccer, golf and athletics). Horace is a supporter of Accra Great Olympics and Liverpool Football Club.
PUBLIC OFFICE
Horace Ankrah is the current National Democratic Congress Party, NDC, UK & IRELAND Chapter Chairman. The NDC is the ruling Political Party in Ghana.

He is married to Juliana with two children Larry and Lauren with homes in London, Surrey, Charlotte in the USA, Cape Coast, Accra and Kumasi. Horace has a total of over 250 adopted children in Ghana.
